Most interested in shoulder protection due to previous injury, this has strong plastic covers and it's comfortable. Look closely at the over the shoulder straps they have screw fastenings that fix them in place these protrude slightly. Using mine for mountain biking and skiing. 38" chest and medium fits fine, large velcro belt fastening keeps it exactly in place. You need a coat over the top or you'll look like RoboCop. If there's a chance you might fall over or fall off buy this before you buy insurance.
